i don't know if people have heard but Anne has passed away.
don't know all the details of what happend. but my thoughs and prayers go out to her little girls and the rest of her family.
I can still remember when recycled sounds open, but it was called dirt cheap. that is where i bought the first Jungle brothers lp there. amongst a ton of other classic hip-hop and not so classic hip records when i was a pup. Not even counting the gang of 45's before the price's got crazy.
but i really liked going there. the first record store that treated me like family, and not a dollar. A sad day true in deed.

On Thurday, October 22, Kansas City lost Anne Winter who gave so much to the alternative music scene, 90.1 FM KKFI, Recycled Sounds, Culture Under Fire, The Free Speech Coalition, Border Star Elementary, The RIME Center, Rolling Thunder, Amnesty International, Mardi Gras parades on 18th Street, the list goes on and on and on....
In honor of Anne Winter we rebroadcast our very special Tribute to Recycled Sounds, from March 22, 2006. In the second hour of this program our Special Guest was: Anne Winter.

i worked for Anne for 4 years at the hip-hop buyer for Recycled Sounds...
she gave me more than just a job with that position...it really did help set me up for tons of networking...
she sold me my 1st pair of decks and my 1st record i ever bought...( common's 1999 single...haha)
so many great memories of her.

Very sad news...
Anne was NOTHING but kind to me over the years.
First album had shelf space at Recycled.
Did my first in-store there. Bought music there over the years. Left flyers there over the years. The photo for my logo was taken there. I spent time just experiencing music there.
All because of Anne.
Sad, sad day... I was floored when I read this on FB.
She was a GREAT woman.
