Topic: Is it me or have live shows been slow in KC?

I will preface this by saying that I work as a bartender on the weekends so I don't get to go out then and maybe I just don't know.
I know that at The Record Bar, our last two Hip Hop shows were SLOW. One where I played and promoted with Les, Toon, GNRL and two female emcees. Super duper slow. Slug slow, even. LOL! The other was promoted for two or three months.
Last decent Hip Hop show at The Record Bar was Sco, Dutch, Greg Enemy, Leo and the B Boys. That one did less than 100 people. I dunno what the deal is. It could be the venue and that it isn't consistent with Hip Hop shows. Not that I'm complaining, some of the other shows (rock, jazz and even some country) do incredible.
I've heard that The Scion Lab hasn't picked up on Wednesday and they have a new performer every week. I'm curious how The Czar Bar, The Brick and Crosstown Station are doing (though I haven't heard of Crosstown doing a Hip Hop event). I think that the Firefly may be popping on the weekends but that all that I've heard about.
Most of the outside Hip Hop shows at The Riot Room this Summer have been beyond excellent. Sold out or about 10 people to capacity from the few times that I've played or had the night off. The nice weather and loud music to attract people wandering around in Westport doesn't hurt. Neither does the fact that most shows there are less than ten dollars.
How has it been for the rest of you all?
Just curious.

definitely been a drought for shows this entire year. Riot Room always has a good turnout it seems.
The turnout for the Pajama Jam last weekend was a tragedy....

It's been hit or miss for minute.
That's why I'm not booking any acts at the moment.
Anyone wanna take on a One Be Lo or Guilty Simpson show?
They're both hitting me up looking for dates in KC and Lawrence.

I've been talking to a cat about Guilty for the last week or so.
Not sure how that's gonna go just yet.

If you run into speed bumps with his booking agent (as i did) let me know and I'll help you bypass him and get straight to Guilty and Hex.
