Topic: Who knows about laptops?

I just ordered an mpd24 off of amazon. I wanna get to the point where i can do like live shows and all that ... (which translates to a laptop and Ableton) I already have Ableton and a gang of other softwares ... but what i dont have is a laptop.
I dont know the first thing about em. I want something that can run ableton smoothly without and hiccups ... preferably a PC. (Macs are just too garsh-darn expensive).
Does anyone have any suggestions/tips as to what laptops out there a good like that .... that wont break the bank?

I have a sony vaio i just got on sunday i'm letting go for $500.00. Its new and I've only used it for 2 days. I want to buy a mac and e-mail me at [email protected] and I can send you all the specifications.

Ive owned a ton of laptops. Outside of my mac powerbook which was my favorite i strongly endorse lenovo and compaq. id say stay away from any toshiba, acer, and hp. Ive never owned a sony or a dell so i got no insight for you. personally tho id prefer a used lenovo think pad over basically any other new pc laptop. there not lookers but are reliable and efficient machines.
