   10. Rhymefest: El Che Due: March 2009 * A few great tracks have dropped from this already, and I hope they stay on this and find a home. His Man in the Mirror stuff was pretty dope and built up a lot of hype around Rhymefest. Rightfully so, he’s extra dope, even though Blue Collar was slightly below his standards and potential, El Che is showing tons of promise. 9. Common: The Believer Due: TBA 2009 * Anytime one of the best rappers of our generation is about to drop something, we should be excited. Hopefully he’s focusing on this and not on his inevitable 3 minute role in the new Terminator. The last time Common went a little unCommon-like, we got his verse on “Get ‘Em High,” so, yeah…please Common. 8. Mos Def: The Ecstatic Due: February 2009 * I’m pretty sure The New Danger and Tru3 Magic made both of my most anticipated lists when they were about to drop and I couldn’t of hated two albums more. The worst is when Mos Def rhymes, you feel like you are listening to someone who could EASILY be the best MC ever to grace the microphone, that is until he just starts mumbling or rambles or sings or something. The Ecstatic is showing more promise than the previous two. 7. Black Milk/Sean Price/Guilty Simpson: Random Axe Due: TBA 2009 * This could be a pipe dream, but early talks about it in and around the time of “Run” made people foam at the mouth. The aforementioned song just gave us a taste of what things could be if these three really definite voices and styles mash up and make an album together. Cross your fingers, put in your requests, you never know; after all, that Caltroit project seemed pretty obscure at one point. 6. Buckshot & KRS-One: Conflosations Due: TBA 2009 * First got word about this around summer and there really hasn’t been much talk about it, but there hasn’t been talk about it dismantling. KRS has shown that he could be the best of the best still, but he also has shown he can be the grumpiest of grumpy. Hopefully Buckshot, who still has it, can evoke some fire out of KRS and target it on some great production ranging from 9th, Beatminerz, etc. 5. Method Man & Redman: Blackout 2, Redman: Muddy Waters 2, Method Man: Crystal Meth Due: TBA 2009 * Have you heard “Broken Language?” You should go and listen to it right now because what they do on it is dope as hell. They also opened up their show with a new joint that sounded dope as hell. Even though “Blackout” was below the standards these two have been known to set, you can’t help but be excited with these two cats hooking up again. On another note, both supposedly have two other LP’s dropping: Muddy Waters 2 and Crystal Meth. 4. Jay-Z: Blueprint 3 Due: February 2009 * Self explanatory. I’m not that excited, but I know all of you are. As long as he keeps turning down beats from DJ Premier, I’ll keep wondering why in the hell he would. Regardless, if “Brooklyn (Go Hard)” is any indication of Jay-Z’s state right now, we really should be excited. 3. Royce Da 5′9- Street Hop Due: March 2009 * Did anyone have a better 2008? Royce apparently doesn’t need to drop an album to be on the top of everyone’s list, but it helps when “Shake This” is complete heat and just about every guest verse has been candidates for “Verse of the Year” honours. The god, DJ Premier is executive producing this too, should be quality. 2. Big Boi: Sir Luscious Left Foot: The song of Chico Dusty, Andre 3000: TBD, Outkast: TBD Due: TBA 2009 * The greatest duo or group in hip hop (yeah, I said it) are supposedly coming back in 2009. Big Boi’s album seems almost positive to drop this upcoming year, while Andre’s is still a little in the dark. Still, chatter about another Outkast album AND an Andre solo project are causes for necessary excitement. 1. Eminem: Relapse Due: Spring 2009 * So, does he actually have a track with DJ Premier? Premier’s confirmed it, so let’s hope it makes the cut. If this dream combination isn’t worthy of the number one spot, throw on the fact that Dr. Dre will be handling a majority of the work and Eminem is back to his old self, then maybe it will be more than a valid option for top spot. Don’t spoil much by listening to a leak or whatever, the surprise alone warrants a purchase. 50, Dr. Dre and Marshall all seem to be a part of this Aftermath re-birth planned for 2009. I could careless about any Detox talk, because it’s made this list for the last 5 years, so I’ll enjoy a fairly up-to-date Relapse moment. With the south reaching its peak in HipHop, despite leaving fans waiting for years, Detox would have a greater impact when the southern sound overcomes its peak (currently its only getting stronger but it is inevitable, this has occuered with both east coast and west coast hip hop) Perhaps Dre’s project will pick its timing so that it will create a renaissance of west coast rap and its artists. 6. 50 Cent ’s popularity has never been so low. Depends on the marketing plans but this might mean Curtis may brick. If Curtis doesn’t come through then everybody will say g-unit is over, but if in the coming six month period after…Detox dropped, it would solidify Dre’s King of the Game (as a producer and dynasty) status. 5. Dre has worked with The D.O.C on all of his album’s. Amongst a hand full of other key contributers the D.O.C has been essential to Dre’s solo efforts. Backing this speculation is an interesting post on Just Blaze’s MySpace page. The Page has a photo of all three in the studio of (Jus’, Dre and the D.O.C.) with the caption “No really…watchout for Detox.” 4. The following artists have stated in very recent times that they have infact worked on Detox with Dre in preparation for the upcoming release: Eminem, Bishop Lamont, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Knoc-turn’al, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Devin Tha Dude and Busta Rhymes. Thats alot of artists to record for an album and this is probably half the list… 3. The following producers have stated in very recent times that they have infact worked on Detox with Dre in preparation for the upcoming release: Just Blaze, Mike Alonzo, Mel-Man, Scott Storch, Hi-Tek, Kon Artis, Nottz, Mahogany, JR Rotem and RZA (which maybe not make the Album). With this in mind consider how long it would take to co-produce and work with all of these producers, and then to the select an overall album from the results of these experiments. This Album Needs to be very successful (i.e Platinum) in order to solidify 50 Cent’s reputation and credibility after beefing and Bee-Essing with other Aritsts and loosing the respect of the Hip Hop community and of the general Public. Of course Detox would be re-scheduled for Summer 08 in order to put out one of his labels biggest superstars. 1.IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS. Dr.Dre has earnt his position of power; He has the money and the flexability to release the album whenever he wants to. However, consider this: Dre wants to leave Detox as his legacy to the game, so there is no question that he will take his time to perfect his craft and make sure that whatever he releases, he will be satisfied that it is a masterpiece which will be a landmark for the music world.
