hey, that minnesota defense was dope even before jared allen's drunk ass got there, but yeah i can dig the vikings. if they get a good cover corner and a quarterback, they'll be running shit.
i don't think bill cowher as a gm would be too great of an idea... it could work, judging by how parcells is doing in miami, but there's gotta be a coach-gm relationship that allows each one to do their own job and not step on any toes...
i was listening to a radio dude saying that if we really wanted bill cowher, the way he'd do it is to sit down with him some time, and ask his advice on who he should choose as a new gm, hire that guy, then a few months later try to get that gm to talk cowher into coming in.

Honestly I think this would be a great year to get one of the talented young coordinators due for a Head Coaching job.

My sentiments exactly.
I'd actually like to see the Chiefs hang on to Thigpen.
We have so many other holes. Give the kid a full season to prove himself worthy to be our QBOTF. He's played fairly well this year. There have been hiccups, but he's a first year starter. That's to be expected.
Still... 17 TD's to 12 TD's is pretty solid.

while we're on the subject... needs in the draft?
(it's always a bad sign for fans to be talking about that before the season's over... and i think kansas city was talking about it by like week 4.)
we need help all over the o-line. i think waters might retire. somebody on the radio suggested moving him back to center, which might give him another year or two if he can still snap well.
our linebacker situation was a complete failure this year... pat thomas stepped up and impressed a lot of people, but that doesn't mean he's great... it mostly means the other two guys we brought in with high salaries were huge disappointments, and donnie edwards is getting older. i'd love to see us get james laurinaitis or any of usc's linebackers... but i don't watch that much college football so i won't be the authority on that.
obviously the jared allen trade worked a lot better for minnesota than it did for us... we do need a DE...
however, there's a lot of good free agents on defense this coming year... julius peppers, jonathon vilma, bart scott, nnamdi asomugha (even though our CB situation is okay, i can't say i wouldn't expect herm to bite at that one if he's still around), terrell suggs, jonathan babineaux...
i say we trade lj, but we should have done it this past year when he'd have been worth more. a better o-line would do a lot more for our offense than really any running back.
i'm glad mark bradley's working out, or i'd say a WR too.
i'm wondering if tony gonzalez is still gonna be traded, especially now that carl's gone...
the miami dolphins and atlanta falcons should serve as examples to all the shitty teams in the league that things can be turned around if you make a few good decisions.

all the talk is about drafting a quarterback, i.e. bradford...but i say we dont need to draft a quarterback, we have thigpen, who is doing pretty well and we can also just trade for a more expierenced qb like cassel or quinn(who isnt very expierenced but still more so than a rookie)
we should use our picks on DEs and linemen....thats what i think
o and trade the FUCK out of LJ while people still think hes good...he can go spit in chicks faces in some other town...

I like Thigpen too. I like the way he runs....kid has stepped up his confidence, and the Chiefs haven't had a scrambler like that for a minute.

thigpen's good enough. i know that quarterbacks are important because they're the only one that possesses the ball every down... but at the same time, it's sometimes an overrated position, and especially in a conservative offense, you don't need somebody to dazzle, you need them to get the job done. now, that said, thigpen's only average in my opinion, but considering how bad the whole team has been, average is good enough and i'd be willing to give him a chance to start next camp. however, we do need to find other quarterbacks for the simple fact we had two of them drop this season and backup qbs can kind of make or break you (matt cassel vs. ryan fitzpatrick)...
i still think we need to go defense... offensive line is obvious, but i think the players we've chosen for the front seven the past few years have not been performing up to expectation. we've got dorsey, a good defensive end would create an excellent pass rush... a good linebacker would add versatility for any cover 2 and zone defense schemes, plus would help stop the run.
i haven't been impressed by kolby smith or jamaal charles this year, but i think that's because they're not being used enough or correctly. i can't believe they don't run charles to the outside more often. especially now that they've got thigpen who could run a decent option. i think jamaal charles could have won that patriots game for us.
p.s. this has nothing to do with the chiefs, but i think the lions were stupid in the first place to bring mike martz there... not because he's not a great offensive coach, because he is... but why would you want a pass first offense in any northern division? yeah, they play in a dome, but for at least four other games (vikings have a dome too) there's a good chance they're going to be in freezing snow and all that... catching rock hard slippery balls (also my favorite gay porn) from a quarterback with numb fingers isn't going to get you anywhere. all i'm saying is... duh.

I doubt seriously that Waters retires. He's only 31 years old. He has at least 3 more productive years in him.
Moving him to Center only creates a whole at Left Guard. I honestly don't think that helps us any (though Herb Taylor's skill set paired with his size makes him a laudable candidate for the LG spot).

Pat Thomas was awful. He stunk out loud. We should never have sent Napolean Harris packing. He was clearly the better Linebacker of the two. This is a priority in the off-season. Trading back 7-9 slots to draft a Rey Maualuga or James Laurinaitis would net us a franchise MLB and another 2nd Round pick.

I can't see Peppers getting out of Charlotte. I'd gladly take Suggs. I think he should be the Chiefs #1 priority in Free Agency. Vilma isn't the same guy anymore. I think I'd rather have Mau or Laurinaitis.

If we can get the right value for him I'd trade him, but I can't imagine we'll get anything more than a 3rd Round pick for him at this point. He's damaged goods in the NFL right now.

Bradley might have been this team's best acquisition this season, but his being injury-prone concerns me. I think I sign a young guy in FA or consider drafting one in April. Will Franklin's flashed though. He could be ready to contribute by next season.

I think this depends on what they decide to do with Thigpen.
If Chiefs brass declares him "the guy" for 2009 he might stick around.
I think he'll bolt if we draft a Sam Bradford or Matthew Stafford. He doesn't want to suffer through another first year QB.

I disagree.
I think QB is by far-and-away the most important position on the field.
There aren't as many franchise QB's in the NFL as some would have you to believe, but I think you need a second-tier guy (at the very least) to have a realistic shot at the Lombardi.

Jamaal Charles has been impressive, but underutilized.
As a runner he averages 5.4 yards per carry. He'll end the year with something like 350 yards on the ground. As a receiver he's been more effective averaging better than 10 yards per catch. His lone TD was a reception.
That's my only disappointment that he hasn't found paydirt more often.
Though I suspect Chan Gailey, if retained, will find more productive ways to use him next year. He's a Kevin Faulk type of back. He can be WILDLY productive if you use him properly. That kid gives you an extra dimension offensively.
