I saw on ticketmaster.com that Murs is at the Record Bar on Saturday?!
Anyone got info on this, as far as opening acts or anything? So surprised I hadn't heard anything about it. Let me know.

when i was there i saw a flyer for murs & a flyer for kidz in the hall, both on the same day & both not saying that either one of them were both going to be performing together so i have no idea man.

As I understand it, it's MURS headlining with one of the guys from Little Brother and Kidz in the Hall also.
If the word on the street/promotion for this wasn't so poor, place would be packed/sold out.
Heard about this a few weeks back, but yea, promotion for it has been crap.

it's big pooh.
i just went to his myspace, he has the record bar show up,
which says murs, kidz in the hall & him.
i agree, horrible promoting though.

That's why you put local acts on a show. If they gave a slot to just about any of the established local groups, the promotion would have been outstanding. What a shame.

This show has been posted on our website www.therecordbar.com w/ complete links for all performers for several months now. Flyers have been up at record stores and on line as well. I'm not sure what else we can do promo-wise. I understand the value of local artists on a bill and generally I always put them on. That said, the last few shows we've done, even w/ local support have not done so well. Lack of promotion? Maybe, I don't know. I'd suggest you check our website on a regular basis for upcoming shows. Our site is easy to use and packed full of information.
The Murs show is being promoted by HUNT industries and I believe the artists requested no locals, I could be wrong though.
Anyway, I'm open to promotional ideas that aren't just printing a up a shit ton of hand bills that end up in the garbage or annoying people who've had them left on their car.

How about posting it on a local hip hop forum? I mean, you obviously visit this site already.
I know its hard to promote shows. And more fliers aren't the answer. But there's at least a couple dozen people who primarily check for local hip hop shows on this site alone. And we are certainly the demographic that would peep a Murs show.
It's not that I would never check out your website (though I had no idea you even have one before now), but many of us are on here at least once a week to peep what's going down. I might pop in to see what stupid new drama is happening in the community chat room, and just click in here to peep what's going on this week.
And I know you don't always have say of whether or not local acts play. In this town, though, it can actually bring a draw. But yeah, sometimes it doesn't.
