South of KC is suburbs and yuppies, nice homes, but the transit's a cluster fuck and most people are douche-bags. North are older homes, generally nice people, but more removed and quiet. The downtown is on it's own nuts and everything is more expensive than it should be. Midtown has great apartments, cheap, with the variance of crime, depending on the area.
Really though, there are great places to live here. Maybe suggest where you've looked or are thinking of looking and I/we can drop some ideas.

i just moved out of blue springs in the kc area, to be closer to my job. well, i move in at the end of this month. it's in the uptown district. either way, i'm excited.

I'd check midtown for sure. Right now I'm spending way too much near the rivermarket because I had to vacate my last roomate suitation asap. I'm paying for it now.
Tax credit properties are cheap, but sometimes a hassel depending who you are dealing with. They aren't bad places. I love the Rivermarket, but the downtown area now seems to be business folk pushing away artists. It's not all like that, but I gotta say, I feel like the oddball out walking around. I blame the hair for that though. 😉
