Right now as a fan and a producer. I am learning the art of patience. I know that [u:43ac2b3e36]YOU[/u:43ac2b3e36]personally have probably been listening to the New IN8 Sounds Crew album for probably over a year, but understand fam, I just introduced IN to some kids who never even heard of ya'll. Let it sink in. Let it rest, give it time bro. Its our time, right? Time for the healing, and the education. Its Like Erykah Badu said in her new song "Healer", "We aint dead, we been living throught your internet." I know I'm nobody when it comes to advice on the production, but as a fan, I say, "chill"! I've been so frustrated because i've given sooo many tracks, to sooo many dope emcees. But if they don't feel like writing, I can't force it. The last thing I want is some b.s. nonsense lyrics over my beat. However InateSounds Crew just released what is one of the dopest joints out of KC for a minute. Cop That, fo real. My opinion. keep doing You and the rest will be you! the next wave is SP, IN, Heet MOB, and Mics of the Round. peas AF

let's hope the next wave is a wave of fans. we need new listeners!! i think there is soooo much talent in this scene but it must get old rapping for other rappers every show. personally i would love to see more live instruments added in with performances, maybe artists from other genre local bands collaborating with kc hip hop, and just the next level of open, honest, raw soul music. i appreciate all you hiphopkc people!!!

I've gotta agree with Beth, and live instruments will attract more fans. I already said it in the other post that I could care less what someone can do in the studio if they can't do it as good or better in a live setting.

personally, i hate live instrumentation with hip-hop. i don't even like the roots. (stetsasonic are still cool, though.) as far as i know, there's some interesting shit that is about to come out, so this story should write itself...

In the wind, there's a lot of shit cooking that just hasn't come out yet. The bar is raising, anything is bound to come out the woodwork. I have high hopes.

We (Tactic) are known to make some from time to time as well. Burial is the truth.

I definitely wouldn't name Mythik and I as the go to guys for local dubstep. Not really our forte, but some of our newer stuff is pretty grimey. I'd say our stuff is just experimental hip hop with cutting and scratching or something. As far as the next trend...hmm no clue, but I hope it gets a little more experimental, maybe in one word "fusion". Like on one end of the spectrum, integrating conventional live instrumentation, and on the other end.... live drum pads/midi triggering/effects and some of the more technological instruments. I personally have always liked things a little more futuristic, electronic, experimental.......probably because I'm simply not talented enough to make that "classic" sound and pull it off well. Plus, it simply gets fucking boring. I think there will be more and more of a collaborative trend. Getting people out of their little circles, and working with new people. Hip Hop + Jazz + Electronic + Dance + Rock + Grime + whatever. We should put out a 3 disc set of a mixtape featuring: Innate Sounds, Soul Providers, Symbol Heavy, Barbaric Merits, Tactic, Soul Servers, Eggnog, Trystyl, etc......bring in a bunch of the electronic producers, live musicians from the area, possibilities are endless I guess. Yeah yeah, I know it would be a huge orgyastic clusterfuck. But whatever, I'm down.

I'm hoping more KC artists make shit that makes dj's want to play it. I would like to hear more uptempo shit. Beats above 110 bpm.

^^^^^^^^double agree'd^^^^^^^^^ all to often i hear people say they wanna "slow it down for the ladies".... i say shake it up! ha yeah the CES /block rmx is a great example... i also love the track that smoov & beatbroker did on the IN (alpha) cd. I wish it was longer though. I play that one at Nara and it's about 100bpms yeah more uptempo tracks would def. get some spins in a club set for sure.

i disagree about the high bpms, for the most part. but i'm pretty fond of the classic midwest dark gritty beats with double-timed lyrics. i'm not trying to say everyone should stay in a box, but i'm not interested in hipster-hop... just because something has a high enough tempo and a repetitive disco beat doesn't mean you should feel the need to dance to it. i think it's quite the opposite really, most of the shit sold as "dance" music in my opinion is just called that because its fast repetition allows white girls with no rhythm to just flail and bounce around... i mean, i guess if that's what you want at your hip-hop night, i don't know what to tell you... as a dj, i have things of quite a wide range of bpms and i would never say that any particular tempo is better for dancing... what is generally good for dancing, though, is good music. anyway, my prediction of what's going to happen here is that everyone's going to continue to be fashionable and bite whatever comes out of chicago... i'm hoping i'm wrong about that... p.s my roommate is volunteering at kkfi, in the hopes of getting a punk radio show some time... he said they're changing up the format pretty soon, and asked if i'd be interested in having a show and doing what he's doing, and asked what kind of music i'd play... after i thought about it, i decided i'd love to have a scratch show (i.e. the shiggar fraggar show, only, you know, legal) and just set up a couple turntables and whoever shows up can jump in the rotation. does that sound interesting to anyone else? p.p.s. regarding dubstep.. it's not something i really like that much, but what i meant about barbaric merits is that i think the way you mix it with hip-hop and make it more palatable for americans has some chance of working in kansas city specifically and could turn into something.

Definitely. And thanks a lot for the positive feedback about what Dub and I are doing. It's fresh to see people embracing the BASS. Not that it's all we're about, but always an essential ingredient. We'll see what happens.....but when I'm finally able to pick up a laptop and tractor scratch, things are really going to get ugly! And I mean out of control. 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈
