You know, Old School Niggas can be so unorganized sometimes. If this was my first show I woulda been pissed. (ZJ's first***)
First off they were running behind schedule, They said something about some artist not showing up and then they did show up so the let them go on. A Reggae Band Performed @ 7:00 when ZJ was supposed to be going on. They played long enough for me to get a trim @ the New Creation Barber shop. (45 min). Then a poet went on, her mic cut out at the end of her set. They brought her back up to finish.
Sixers set started with a horrible sound system, limp mikes, and confused engineers. They did 3 and 1/2 songs. This lady pulled Sixer aside, right before a verse, I was sure he was going to kill. (yes in the middle of his set), and told him he was done.
Now it might have been for content, it might have been for time, but you gotta screen your music, and you can't play favorites to people you think don't matter.
It looked like the Troost festival was a successful event, except for whoever was in charge of the entertainment. The forgot to follow one rule.
The show must go on!
***Note, I have no personal ties with ZJ Sixer, I was simply there to support another Kansas City artist and observe. I post this because I know him and his "crew" are modest, (in my opinion, you handled that dude and the situation well, very calm, mature and confident Sixer! Props!) and Sixer was so confident that this was just the beggining of what he will be doing.
