    well, what day works for y'all? should we do a weekend so it'll be chaotic, or like a monday so it's more bizarre looking to have a bunch of people trying to get in? some time in the next few weeks so it's pertinent i guess.

    HOW DOES A CROOKED HAT BREAK ANY SAFETY!?!? I went to this bar a couple saturdays ago with bates looking for some honeys.. WRONG FUCKING BAR FOR US!! I don't even wanna return we both had our black hoodies on and we were looked at like criminals.. FUCK THIS BAR and EVERYTHING it stands for.. ignorance kills fun.. and too much fun causes ignorance??

    it was broadcasted locally last week on kmbc. its sad because cats like me,yadi,pl, lou, deuce,smooth and beatbroker were the ones who opened the door for hip hop in that place(remember how fun it was last year rocking that place out) and a bunch of janky promoters came in and freaked it up for everyone. this is the reason why hip hop is hated in this city, janky promoters, who promote to the wrong crowd and who are not on their business(its about dollars and hoes and trying to be "cool"). Lets not forget its a hop,skip and jump away from troost and any word that hip hop is playing in a new area then a crowd is bound to come. Its like a place in mission that is one hop skip and jump away from wyandotte county. When you have hip hop in venues that are not used to it and you have inexperienced dj's who don't know how to handle it, this is when you get f---ery(fill in the letters). People who listen to the crowd instead of controlling the crowd, playing agressive records. When you don't have sufficent serurity then thats another issue who are not used to dealing with ethinc crowds. THat area is feeling threatned, its like what ms necia said about venues in ths city. Its already 10x hard trying to find venues for hip hop shows after the venets that happened the first of the year and publicity. Its hard for someone to open new venues for hip hop,. Im still correcting mistakes that other dj's have messed up years ago.     I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with hip hop MUSIC. My buddy's hip hop cover band just got booked there for like the next 6 months to coincide with The Zeros shows....and they play all tribe, snoop, etc, most stuff a dj would play in there......but they're all white, and most of their following is too. So i'm pretty sure the "dress code" is mainly trying to steer away dem scary young colored folk wit der gang stickers on dem hats. Nascar 4 Life baby!

WTF??!!! I 've had some heated discussions with some club owners about this very issue. I just recently had a conversation with friend of mine who dj's out in Topeka and he told me the same thing was happening out there. It's happening everywhere! Just in Lawrence the other day some people got shot including security guards at the "black club" which is called Last Call. The city of Lawrence has been trying everything to shut this place down since I can remember because of incidents like this.     I was wondering why there isn't many concerts here, hip-hop wise. I was looking through the list of venues and the closest thing I saw was rjd2 like 2 or so months from now. Where I lived before, in Maryland, things were on and poppin' for artists (Independant & National). There was at least a good artist there every week or two, sometimes more than one. What is the main deal for the problem here in KC and how can we all help it or rectify it? Because I feel like everyone is missing out here.

    I was at the Hurricane whne three of the female bartenders quit the day the manager and owner said there would be no more Hip Hop at the hurricane. I was at the Hurricane when the Bar Association was having a meeting where the former owner of AC's Garage, now known as the Dark Horse stated, "No Hip Hop on the Weekend's..... Would be a sure way to keep things in a positive light....."Westport gets "dark" on the weekends." he didn't even care that I was cleaning up a table right next to their b.s. meeting. Its not a secret, that the city wants Hip Hop to just go away. (wheres Stanfords?) I don't understand why everyone acts like it is. dude told me @ the Hurricane my pants were too baggy. I said, "So you'll play our music to fill your bar, but you hate my culture and the way we dress? I've lived here all my life and I remember the first Lalapalooza I went to. And wished to God that it would happen every year. When smokin grooves quit coming, I just gave up on Hip Hop gainging roots in KC, for about two or three years. I've worked in the bar/cafe scene in KC for enough time, with enough people, to know what's up. The Record Bar is the new spot. Thanks for letting us, and helping us hold it down! _____________________________ On another note. I have talked to a few friends of mine, and as far as the "time stops" (you know the union station sh*t) stunt. They got mad arts students down! As far as going to a whack yuppy bar, and staging a "stand around" they are down for that too. I got like 20-30 people and the word keeps spreading. I keep getting calls about when and where, but havent gone into any details. So somebody organize something quick. Art students will do anything for free beer, thats the kicker. which I will be more than happy to pay for. (Not at the bar though!)

    alright look yall, some of you have probably noticed my attempts at creating a focus statement along with a criteria for interacting with local venues right? you are all speaking to why I have been pushing this idea. the ball in the hiphopkc community as to where to go from here. on the real, if you had the nut most venue owners have, and all that could be defeated by one muthafu*ker's meltdown, you would have to rethink hiphop too if we could create this document, shop it to enough area artists performing already and get their buy in then use that some document when we book local venues for our events, word would get out among venue owners that we are serious about performing regularly in the metro. if we create our own promotion campaign centered around this document to the general public and enforce that shit shit would turn around. you decide without this things will continue to disintegrate before our eyes. holla if ya feel me let's act before we are acted upon.l

    this document sounds like a good idea. it would be very interesting to experiment with the brooksider's dresscode. if sagging is against the rules i'm sure i can go in there on any night and find several girls wearing jeans cut so low that their thongs and tribal back tatoo are hanging out. i wonder if the no bandana policy applies to hackysack on the quad, john mayer types? would they turn away a white girl in a jersey and leggings? hmmm sounds like a great social experiment and maybe a story...nadia
