What's this RAGE you're referring to? Critiques are essentially all hogwash to some extent. I've sat through lots of them in art school and they almost always result in the same thing... you either grow a deeper appreciation for your work, you get defensive and take it personal, or you take some of the input given and make some changes to your shit based on other peoples opinions and insight. Personally, I never took critiques all that seriously. Maybe I'm stubborn, but when you start making art based on other peoples ideas and wants, well than you're really just an illustrator. DOH! But seriously, who the hell cares what someone really thinks, especially if what you're creating is bringing YOU happiness?! Has everyone forgotten the phrase "To each his own?" The Cool Kids make some nice tracks in my opinion, but I'm certainly not going to get toughguy because Henry or Terrance might not agree with me. Ok, that's enough, time to head over to 808 and start wrapping up our little record album. Be easy.

"Wack" doesn't necesarily mean "hate". Perhaps I misused that word in the context of how everyone else takes it. What I've heard from them, isn't my style - and while I've only heard a few songs, I'm sure with a bit more diggin I'll find something I like. Pce!

To ''rappers'' like the cool kids, it's more about who you can make a promo tee with and who you can collab with. They dont care about lyrical content unless they are name droppin' their local ''streetwear'' boutique. It's such a huge movement here right now, it's pathetic. It's like the easy way to become a rapper. Just be a walking billboard for the "scene" or "local boutique" and go to a whole bunch of open mics. It reminds me a little bit when the backpakers culture started getting popular. Except these hipster hop kids dont have money to buy good drugs to sell like the og backpackers, because they spent all their money at the boutique on the extremely limited, hard to find, pair of JEANS by "so and so x whatever x here today gone tomorrow" that cost $210 resale! people are getting played. How about these hipster rappers save that $210 and instead of buying jeans, they go and buy a nice mic, and instead of looking at themselves in the mirror all the time, they should sit down and write a decent rhyme, and say something. I still don't understand this. Why do The Cool Kids have to care about lyrical content? Maybe the reason they put out records is because they want an excuse to dress up in retro jackets, expensive jeans, and obscenely big sunglasses. That isn't okay? Having fun, playing dress up, and making low-concept songs about bikes and jeans? Andy Warhol was far more interested in the visual element of his artists. The dude was like the original hipster. He would have drooled all over the Kid Sister and Kanye video. Fashion and visual aesthetic was his way of expressing art. That's the part that bugs me about this discussion. It's art. It's supposed to be fun, and entertaining. Of course, if these guys were not buzzing as hard as they are, none of you would be so upset. It's truly amazing how jealous people get over stuff. rick moranis is a genious... i seriously typed a 3 paragraph explanation about how i felt about all this...then my net crashed and i lost it....so to sum it up id like to tour europe, profitable or not epic doesnt intimidate me, im not goin for his fanbase anyway(which probably doesnt reach outside his extended family) he's like the ceos son who took the job from under the guy whose been with the company for 20 years...happens everyday.... aaaannndddd what else, oh yea, if anyone ever sees me in an outfit that costs more that 120$ and that includes shoes, i give you permission to punch me in the chest (but you cant throw expensive clothes at me just so you can hit me, thats not cool)

okay. Fact remains to each his own. Whether cool kids do it to get paid or whether they are doing it because they like it is irrelevant, as are their choices in clothes. Fact remains none of us has the right to decide what is and is not a definition of real hiphop, because every person's idea of that is different.

I caught the Cool Kids last year at SXSW, they are really good live. Chicago has a bunch of dope performers coming up right now. Mic Terror, Hollywood Holt, Million $ Mano (he produces for the previous two and is dope as fuck), The Cool Kids, Kid Sister (who just got signed to Downtown Records)...some of you will probably just write all of them off as 'hipster' rappers or whatever but the fact is they are doing some fun music and people are listening. Sure they all have perfected their image but that doesn't bother me at all. I just don't get why you would write a performer off b/c of how they dress.

music is changing. i just got the track chris is talking about and in their first verse they say I rather listen to abc not ay bay bay. I mean music is progressing now. The wale,kid sister,justice, cool kids and others are the next level. Im a big fan of kid sister(my friend gant did the switchboard track at the end of the video and he's in the video).Ive been playing cool kids at my 2 club nights and the most thugged out cats come up to me and ask me who is the group. Im getting requests for it, I don't see them being hipster rappers, i see them makig music that moves the crowd. Ive been dropping it in my radio mixes also the past few weeks and been getting a good response. Their label rep is cool and anything i need with drops or music they hit me right back. They are on their business, they are on the grind, networking and doing shows overseas and utilizing myspace to network i.e. little brother and the internet buzz they had for the longest time before the listening dropped.

i agree wit shad music is always evolving thats why i'm doing this new ep called "quantum leap" because why should i confine myself to a damn box just cuz the "heads" deem it necessary i thought hip-hop was supposed to be expermental otherwise why do it? now i will agree with a few people for the past few years it's been evolving into some wack shit. but with that being said there are also small shimmers of light from cats like the cool kids and wale and even kid sister(and yea she is fuckin dope)but i don't believe in "ringtone rap" but hey everybody has they're own opinion but don't get ahead of yourself by deeming it something other than hip-hop cuz i think rap is rap and hip-hop is hip-hop and hip-hop is something u feel and rap is somethin u do... ya dig?
