2007 saw more of The Record Bar, The Hangout, The Peanut, club Kandi
some use to be come back again
some new comers: glow,
Westport venues continuing to be secret about is hiphop happening but having um just the same Beaumont, hurricane, 180, club of the americas to name a few

Not sure for real because 1. the cost is beyond me 2. mostly focused on local shit, No radio listening so dumb about it unless one of yall say have you heard this and are excited about it. truth.

seems at the same level just different artists discovering each other and new alliances.

The media cover seemed to increase and was mostly upbeat. This is one of my gauges of the public at large getting more info.
Overall tho I can't judge its impact beyond the hiphop community.

a few more that being based on the artists I talk with who are being smarter about negoiations at the beginning, and pushing for it at the end

Thanks entirely to the HiphopAcademy 2007 proved surprising in this low regarded area. the best surprise of all was being apart of the hiphopAcademy's summer camp. Wow that was great !

there were lots of Opportunities in 2007, basically cuz everytime we go to an event, we are being a community.
celebrate hiphop week happened again
the sauce was borned as we said goodbye to feel sexy
sike's monthly dancefloor event continues to provide a place to get
wild with friends on the dancefloor
Hiphop and hot wings dispite its ups and downs remains the quinticennial "community watering hole" on sunday nites

personally, I can say that I have work to increase my friends awareness of hiphop culture as much as ever and have been blessed this year with some surprising results because of this. thanks to my friends for showing so much love to my events throughout the summer.

The Basement with linquist and greer, hiphopacademy sponsored events the clinic garden series, + concerted efforts by reach and a few other artists, increased the opportunities, but the real surprise was the no show/low attendance area youth made after bitching about not having any opportunities. go figure

again props go to the hiphop academy for creating a highly noteworthy connection and structuring the summer camp that allowed many area aritsts to teach what they love. mad props to KCHHA!

lots of votes for this one, not sure, but I didn't notice much touring going on. Sike was here and there making in roads for his new designs, mac and sku were in and out with Rhymesayers, Konsept was in and out chicago to lawrence + japan, and Reach and Ataxic gave the road a run for its money as well. Miles, Reach, and a few others are using the internet to network and create with folks round the world.

never figured this one out cuz nobody ever added their thoughts to the post.
anyway overall I'd say there were some migrations of activity, some new hope they stay around developments, and more business as usual than I had hope for.
change is coming, right now i'm taking a much need break and reassessment time before I set my sights on what I hope to achieve in 08

I think after 2007 we have a better idea of what's important.
So we can refine that and go into 2008 much more focused.
It was great to have a blueprint.
I'm glad we can take a look back and see where we're headed going forward.
I made it a point to increase paying gigs for artists.
That's paramount in growing the live performance culture around town.
That's an even bigger priority for me going into 2008.
I'm stepping into my promoter shoes fully at 11:59 on 12/31.
