mixtapes are the death of the rap industry.. ther is no circulation of funds.. example....
producer buys equipment to make beats, rapper buys beats, rapper goes to engineer to record, engineer also bought equipment first, rapper then comes to marketing agency (me) to package himself for sale, i also had to buy equipment first, the rapper buys cd's from manufacturer, which also bought equip. first.. then, rapper sells shit ton of albums, if done right, rapper gets money from consumer, and repeat.
with mixtapes... rapper goes to engineer, or buys at home recording studio, in your case, school, downloads beats from internet, goes to store to buy a shit ton of slim cases, and stacks upon stacks of blank cd's.. .. you sell some mixtapes, and give away more.. you make very little money, i make very little money, no new producer with the hottest beat ever gets heard, he quits his dream and works at ups the rest of his life, engineer goes out of business for no clients and owes tens of thousands in loans for equipment, manufacturers end up making someone else cd's in cali so they become rich and famous, all rap shows are canceled due to no original music.. bar hires dj to play songs, radio continues to play the same crap over and over, because everyone is doing mixtapes with the same 10 beats anyway, so who cares, and you, now with less money then when you started, is no further in your career because you weren't original.[/quote:b5c2de4edc]
