No, the project is acutally good. It has a well diverse lineup of talent.Its released by hidden beach, the ones responsible for jill scott, smooth jazz versions of hip hop records handled by patrice rushen(classic soul/jazz artists), The darius rucker from hootie & the blowfish neo soul cd. Everything they put out is quality and one of the few labels i trust buying their poject that I can listen all the way through. There was a rumor a few years back that MJ(jordan) is one of the financial backers. I have to respect dr. west because he is one of the few black schollarly leaders who have reached out to the hip hop generation here is a brief description of the project.
Dr Cornel West gathers hip hop, soul and nusoul stars -- as a loose collective going by the moniker Black Men Who Mean Business -- including appearances Talib Kweli, Rhymefest, Malik Yusef, Prince, Black Thought, Andre 3000, Jill Scott, KRS One and more! The production is mostly credited to Designated Hitters Derek "DOA" Allen and Aaleem Asad, and keep a solid, soulful groove beneath the strident, conscious lyricism. Titles include "911 Cornel West", "Bushonomics" feat Talib Kweli, "Dear Mr Man" feat Prince, "The-N-Word" with Tavis Smiley & Michael Eric Dyson, "Mr President" with KRS-One & M1, "What Time It Is" by Jill Scott, "America (400 Years) Reprise" and more, plus the bonus tracks "Man Gonna Getcha" feat Gerald Levert & Waynee Wayne and "What A Matter Of" with Lenny Williams. The lineup alone has my vote
