Topic: What I've been up to musically

Still making a fair amount of beats, but since getting my drums in January of this year I've really been putting most of my time into them....they both push the other to the next level.
Anyway here's a short video. It's the 3rd verse which was the funkiest....doubt anyone would want to watch up to it, so just cut to it. Had mutes on my drums when I was playing and just used the on board sound from my digital camera.

Here's a better one

This one has no mutes and I synched the recording because my digital camera has crappy sound. It's one time through "ooh" by De La......the worst part is the 1st verse, certainly not perfect, but I've only been on a full set since January

nothing about his drumming on his site really, you'd have to have been down in the basement of dudes house on the late night tip, back when lawrencehiphop was popping off (or not popping off) and the afterpartys would go down till the sun came up...drums, mics, guitars an old ass roland drum machine, a battery powered mini keyboard and an old ass rhodes that was way fucked up...good times
now he stays at quests and quest ain't having that shit in his crib haha!

You seem to be counting more than just playing. I suppose.
Are you left-handed? It looks like you've got your kit set-up for a right-handed player, but you are riding the hat with your left. If you are right-handed, you might think about switching roles for your hands.
I'm just offering some constructive criticism. I haven't played a kit for a minute, but I was halfway good at one point, so I am just offering that bit of advice.
The kit sounds pretty good though. The kick particularly. I liked my kick with more punch and less reverb though, so I put a blanket in it and cut out a section of a spare drum head and taped to drumhead where the kick hits. Man, I loved that sound.
Anyway, now I am just getting nostalgic for crap trapkits.

Yeah I'm a southpaw. A friend of mine who is way better than me suggested I play right handed since the majority of people play their kits right handed. It makes sense and after seeing that video I realized my stick was flying up pretty high, so start tucking my chin down with my arm tucked in on my ribs (quite a bit like a fighter).....it helped to get the high hat crisper and to use my wrist way more, less wasted movement. I might try to set it up left handed for a week and see what happens because when I cross up I use way less energy.
Thanks for the reply sixer, you must have actually read the post unlike some wanker that has a friend that plays better. I have a friend that plays better too.....he's been playing 20 years to my 1/2 a year....damn him
