This Wednesday (the 27th) I was at my friends apt. building off 29th street when a little
guy walked up to me and smiled. I took him to my vet because he had flea bitten ears,
and my vet checked him out and scanned him for microchip(s). He has no micro-chip, but
my vet said (we'll call the puppy 'Harley' for now) Harley is apx 5 to 8 months old. Harley
let the vet and his assistant clean up his uckey ears and put ointment on them. When the vet combed him, there were no fleas, so someone somewhere must have had him flea dipped. His ears are in good shape on he inside, but might end up scarred after they finish healing. The vet gave me a free dose of Advantics , so I went ahead and applied it to his coat.
Harley is staying in the NE area at a friends house; I go over twice a day to visit him (he responds to his name now), walk him and clean and re-dress his ears. His ears are already starting to look better; old stuff is sloughing off and the under side looks better, too.
He didn't know what treats are, so I have been giving him a meaty bone treat for his teeth and I gave him a Heartgard (heartworm general wormer) today. He has learned to eat out of a bowl ( I taught him by letting him eat out of my hand first), and has a healthy appetite.
He is apx 2 feet tall from the top of his head to his feet, and apx 3.5 feet long from the tip of his noe to the tip of his tail. My vet said he probably is done growing, but will put on more weight once he is fed regularly. He weighs apx 30-35 pounds now. His coat is short hair - he doesn't even shed when I pet him.
For now he is staying with a Ches. Bay Retrv. named Happy and three cats in a sculpture studio (when he isn't outside .There's also a big dog house in the yard) ; my friend can't keep him (he also has another dog - black lab..) All the dogs get along well, so Harley seems to be cool with other dogs. I don't know how well he will get along with cats in a confined space; the cats in the studio can go upstairs, so Harley isn't around him. He may not be 'cat friendly' because he isn't really 'cat familiar'. When I took him to Animal Haven he was friendly with the dogs in the waiting room, but growled at a cat in a cage.

with a pic posted. He has a reddish - blonde colouring. His feet are small, but seemed to almost be webbed; he travelled in the back of my truck (eventually it rained - torrential down pour) without a complaint and seemed to enjoy the rain and the wind. I think someone used to take him places in the back of a truck.
He has psuedo-jowlly shaped jaws,; a dark russet streak (Irish Setter / lab mixing with hound of some kind?) of red down th back of his coat with blonde along his ribs (which are not as visible as they were). Harley has blue markings on the tip of his nose and blue spots on his tongue (Chow -ish mix?), a blonde face and a pink nose with yellow-gold round hound eyes (maybe some pit bull?...really likes water though - most pits don't) and an exceptionally smiley gentle mouth.
He really likes being scratched on his chest and lots of belly and chin rubs. He also is very kissy-kissy, and responds freindly to both men and women.
He doen't seemed cowed , agressive, or afraid (signs of abuse or neglect), but he just
learned "sit" today, so he needs a home with someone willing to take care of his ears
and teach him basic commands. He responds to the name Harley now, but could be renamed as he is trained. I have been using NeoSporin on his ears and feeding him
regular adult dog food.
