Man, Tech ain't exactly the hottest lyricist out there, honestly I think I could show him up, but I give him hella props, he deserves tons, cuz let's face it. On the real he is the only KC artist really out there making a name for himself, you go to some other place far away from here and see who they have heard of from KC. Tech is doing it for the town and doing it bigger than anyone else from here. So for now, HE IS our MC. My two cents. -1Sh1Da

Like it or hate it, ive seen the early footage of tech eating mc's alive but its like when youhave kids to feed what do you do. Its like the quote jay z said about common. One of my friends interviewed fat joe and he was like i love ditc but i have too many mouths to feed and I would be broke if i stuck to the flow joe style. Tech is changing his image, if you really want to talk about how kc industry look like clows lets talk about how people's business is not straight. I can put people on blast but im not. Put out projects with quality, quit doing cd'rs, be accessable to dj's for drops and exclusives, i mean if i can get one from multi platinum rappers in less than 48 hours i should be able to get one from locals. Have a press packet ready, lets talk about the whole business, Lets talk about everyone and their mother having a "mixtape(a term I hate because the essence is gone)".. I don't want to hear you over someone beats unless you protools it and add your verse to theirs and make it sound like a remix. I don't want a mixtape with you over everyone elses beats give me songs that I can work, the days of getting a 50 cent deal because of a mixtape is over get the get rich or die trying dream out, hustle and grind and you will shine like the star you are peace dj shad lord gang dj member Violator Juke Squad Dj Member Hitbreakers DJ Member Guest Mixer 90.1 Show Me Mixshow Urban Soul Marketing and Promotions comming soon the art of hustleomitry.....the stuff you need to know about the music industry book by dj shad

The one disrespectful thing i do have to say, and that I'll probably catch flak for is this, KRS!? Come on dog, out of all the great lyricists you pick him to name drop, the dude took forever to do what most of the old-school lyricists did quick. Catch up! The man is stuck in the past, and in his time he was hot, but compared to the few MC's who are actual lyricists now days he ain't shit, and from his time, he ain't got nothing on Common, or even Mos Def, who isn't from that far back but is still part of that style. I didn't quote this time as to not take up a lot of space. I can't watch the youtube thing, I got dial-up lol. But I'm guessing it's KRS freestyling, if it is, I ain't saying he sucks just saying he ain't the best. I got love for him for sure, but you know, I'm just into other stuff I guess. And I didn't get to see Mac Lethal the other night, that's one thing I love about this site, I can keep track easier of when some real shit is going down. So you'll be seeing me next time him or CES is doing some live shit. I've been wanting to see Ubiquitous do his thing since my homie told me about when he did an anagram of his name that rhymed and was hot. Sounded pretty tight so I'm looking forward to that. But yeah, KC love dog, 1Sh1Da

not to get off the subject, but whats not being told is KRS-1 has had his ass handed to him in a freestyle battle in africa by 2 chicago cats D.A. Smart and Kenny Muhammad but no one really adresses the issue. THere is footage floating around but its hard to come by my 2 cents

if you talk to any artists who are trying to step up their game in KC they will tell you, they have to relocate, rethink, and reindentify themselves to go that next jump. that's not to say whether it's good or bad its more like that the way it works. talk to Joc, shad, mac, reach, miles, and others who have had this experience before judging them or whether they are "keepin it real for kc" WE HAVE LITTLE OR NO INFRASTRUCTUAL SUPPORTS FOR ARTISTS MAKING IT FROM INSIDE KC, THERE COMES A TIME WHEN BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF ARTISTIC INFRASTRUCTURE, AN ARTIST WORTH THEIR SALT WILL HAVE TO REACH OUTSIDE OF KC. Tech N9ne was a groundbreaking artist, not just in KC... I believe (someone could tell me I'm wrong), but I believe that Tech N9ne was the first rap artist to make a television commercial telling viewers to download his CD "for free baby!" at his website. I saw the commercial with my own eyes three different times on mtv2 and bet in the early 2000's. Tech N9ne is a legend.

Its at the point.. Keeping it real is played out, i got light bills, cable bill,s classic toys to get, classic lps I run across, if keeping it real means being a starving artist man, im trying to reach people liek the ojays with their message in the music. Tech was and still is respected as a lyracist jay z didn't now want to even battle him during an wake-up show episode. these are the stories that are not told, tech has evolved his image and he is not on the clown image, we all go through fazes in life and I would love to hear a new don juan and tech together cd but that will come in time. In other markets there is support but like twista, nelly, crucial conflict had to do, they had to go outside their market and prove themselves and bring it home. Back in the day there was no love for twista or do or die, people hated on them, but people got out hustled and made moves which more people in this city need to do, whats the point of making headphone music its 2007 we need to reach the masses a few of us have, we need th next generation to take the step......the question is do you want to be a bedroom hero rocking to the same 5 people in your camp or do you want to go out of town and earn the respect that is due.........

Each is his/her own. We need to learn to respect the next man's hustle and stop imposing our own ideals on what they should or shouldn't be doing. This looking over into the next stall crap makes me sick to my stomach. "He's real." "He's a sellout." "He's grinding." "He needs to step his game up." Worry about you... For real. Cause ultimately you don't know enough about the next man's experiences, hopes, dreams, fears or limitations to speak knowledgeably about it. All you really know is what you think. Everybody's in this for different reasons. The sooner we learn to respect that fact... The quicker we'll get to where we need to be. We haven't learned how to respect one another yet. And until we do... All this petty squabbling over nonsense will continue. Do what you do... Ultimately, Tech's doing his thing. And he's been successful. Love it or hate it... Tech's doing Tech. So what's to argue over? What you think Tech ought to represent or be doing? That's some silly @#$% man...

[quote:599caa7d92="DjShad"]Its at the point.. Back in the day there was no love for twista or do or die, people hated on them, but people got out hustled and made moves which more people in this city need to do, whats the point of making headphone music its 2007 we need to reach the masses a few of us have, we need th next generation to take the step......the question is do you want to be a bedroom hero rocking to the same 5 people in your camp or do you want to go out of town and earn the respect that is due.........[/quote:599caa7d92] Ye man. As a former backpacker I can relate to this point. It's taken me a while to climatize to this fact since I moved to KC. I was heavy against Tech and his type of music until Joc lot me hear the stuff Tech did with J5. He was actually supposed to do stuff with Joc and the Khemists. They all came from the same era and I believe the same shool?? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. Anyways, point being, after talking to Tech about this same stuff, it seems that he is on a musical soul search. That's why he goes through all these phazes. He's testing the waters to find a comfortable spot for himself artistically and financially. That is hard to do, especially when you feel like you are: under a time crunch with musical trends, keeping up with the more then fickle attention of your audience, competition, and a market with 1 urban station. You can be the realest MC, but all these factors will break your ass down, ie Jin, Eminem, Juice, Planet Asia, etc.

Its like this instead of complaining about tech, get your ass in the water and swim like us go out of town and do gigs rock shows earn the respect. I had to deal with kc being known as the "rappers graveyard", if your choice, sit in kc bitch and moan, make headphone music and get caught in the "kc trap of being stuck and complaing about how other people are out there and your not" or travel see places represent and put a multi variety face for the sound of kansas city. its been done, marva whitney done it, bloodstone dont it, the jazz artists done it, mac, joc, reach and plenty other have, get on your grind, do you ,make music, move the mases and look back and say man I have done it, belive this, tech isnt worried about you calling him a clown, he has kids mouths to feed and a group to make sure bread is on their table..... Its a hell of alot easier now than it was in pase, before you would have to drive to the cities, link up and network and now myspace has made it easier, so its no excuse to rep kc when your out of town and your hustling shows and that will stand out. People know there is more out there than tech, i eal with it on conferance calls with the major and indi labels on a weekly, build a buzz come out with a quality project then get at me peace dj shad lord gang dj member/volator juke squad dj/hitbreakers dj member guest mixer 90.1 kkfi show me mixshow Urban Soul Marketing and Promotions Get your ass in the water and swim like me.....art of hustleomitry book comming soon based of real life experiences from the music industry 14 + years in the industry

Tech 9 is the first thing that comes out of peoples mouths when I tell them I'm from KC. Then they're like "I know y'all get down, y'all killed Mac Dre.". A lot of KC heads do hate on him though... To all you haters I got 5 words, The Calm Before the Storm. Buy it, bump it, hear Tech at his best.

Tech N9ne is known worldwide. I know this from first hand experience of being in other countries. If you mention KC its a given that Tech N9ne will be brought up. Tech deserves props and respect for doin his own thing the way he wants to do it while still staying true and paying homage to his hometown. It irritates the shit out of me that people from KC hate on Tech with such petty reasons. Just respect the man for doing what hes doing. KC has many different talents. Wide diversity is whats expected from KC. I mean, we're in the middle of the map?! Support the man and hope that others will support you in whatever you do also. He is doing nothing wrong. If anything, people should follow his lead. He is a genius in his own regards.

on the real....everyone has brought aiight arguments for their points. fact is. Tech was good for KC. wether you like it or not. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY WEST COAST CATS BUMP HIS SHIT? Dude above me is right world wide. I'M NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE LITTLE SUBURBAN KIDS WITH ICP POSTERS ON THEIR WALLS IN THEIR BEDROOM.... for real, when he tours, it's not like a show here where a bunch of random painted faced dumbasses show up. it's real heads that recognize the value of techs presence.. One of the greatest doubletimers ever. you can't compare him really to KRS. yea, they both emcee's but different types of emcees. KRS is a jack of all trades, God emcee. Personally I think he's dope. I also skip tracks on his cd's cause some of it's just corny. I also do the same to some conscience heavy shit too. He's quality tho. -BLaM

the difference between being a vocalist and any other sort of musician is that, when you're using words, talent is all you're being judged on. tech n9ne is very talented. i just don't know if i care about anything he has to say. and at the very least, i'd rather somebody have something to say that i don't really agree with, than not be saying anything interesting at all. all things considered, i'd probably be more likely to listen to him regardless if he had better beats.

U can't deny Aaron Yates.. He'll take it anyways. Tech n9ne, do ya thang. He's umm animated would ya say? Ya, normally the ones diss'n are non-artist anyways.. they don't know the work that goes into the work of an Artist. Fans definately make Bands. Tech makes fans like him. and that's word!

I've never seen Mac do a PSA for the Metro, and I've never seen Tech get a crowd of youths to sing drinking songs. I doubt Tech would bring his Father on stage, and Mac Would never paint his face, and dye his hair.... love them both, but it ain't a competition. Its not. Thats almost like saying Kanye has done more for Hp Hop than Professor Grif. Or Nelly has done more for Missouri than both. Dig? They aint the same Pedigree. peace

I'm not a hella hard Tech fan, but man...mad respect. He figured out how to get out there and do his own. Define sellout. The term is used too much for a variety of reasons. He appeals, he's known, he makes money, he's chill, he put KC out there. I'd say the dude's successful for his own definition of the word.
