DJ Mel is a turntablist in the purest form of the art; the party rocker. Musically unpretentious, Stylistically eclectic." Dj Wise". Renowned as one of the most prolific djs in the business due to his wildly popular Rock the Casbah 80s parties, host of the longest running Hip Hop weekly in Texas, a Finalist in the 2004 Scion Free Your Mix contest, regularly touring across North America, all the while holding down his position as Hip Hop buyer for the hugely successful Waterloo Records in Austin Tx. "A flawless mixer, Mel always makes it a point to demonstrate the similarities between divergent styles of music, whether segueing A Tribe Called Quest into Black Sabbath, or a 50 Cent a cappella track over a Nine Inch Nails instrumental. Brazen enough to make such musical leaps, Mel is a master of true party rocking. An avid a crate digger, Mel traverses the vinyl archives for anything apt to make people bug out - physically, mentally, emotionally. An admirer of like-minded national DJs such as The Rub, Haul & Mason and DJ Z-Trip, it's no wonder unpredictability has become an asset for Mel as he continues on his quest to "put Austin on the map." w/ your residents [img:aa5eca10af]http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c94/cha-chE/l_a2c469355784ec2426f5e2c4d0c5a165.jpg[/img:aa5eca10af] Tactic (www.myspace.com/tactickc)[/size:aa5eca10af] yes...all good things must come to an end. S & P has been a lot of fun and a great experience for us and (hopefully) some of the party people of this area. Got DJ Mel (i.e. the fucking [b:aa5eca10af]DUDE[/b:aa5eca10af] in Austin) coming to town to close this night out right. More announcements about this night coming soon...

how do i have a closed mind just because i don't like something? i used to listen to some electronic music in like the mid 90s before most of it started to get too repetitive and not experimental enough. and i've never liked house at all. i just don't like the beat. more concisely, i think i don't generally like electronic music that is meant for people to dance to. i think i'm gonna try to get my roommate to come with me.

and i'm saying that i've given it a chance and i've found what i like and dislike and that it's okay to know what you dislike just like it's okay to know what you like. maybe i'm not enough of a hippie to worry about how open my mind is. i'm not saying there's not exceptions, and that may indeed be all you play... but my overall opinion is skeptical, and i'm alright with that, so don't be offended. if it makes up for it, i don't really like anything.
