People are sleeping on this Pitch DJ contest:
Turn in a CD mix by Friday the 9th -- that's THIS FRIDAY -- and qualify to compete in the annual Pitch DJ contest February 23rd at Skybox. The winner gets bragging rights and a ticket to Miami for the March 23-24 Winter Music Conference.
Drop off entries c/o Jason Harper, at the Pitch, 1701 Main Street, downtown KC.
One possible hitch: entries must be for individuals, not DJ teams. Don't let that stop you!
And if you use extra equipment like Serato, please specify when you turn in the mix.

Isn't this for dance and rave style dj's? I remember reading about this a few years ago and I think it was held at Jilly's. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't dj's in the sense of a HIP HOP DJ's cutting, scratching and mixing but mostly for dj's just beat matching and playing dance music. Correct me if I'm wrong.

if no hip-hop djs enter, then no hip-hop djs will compete.
but i think this is the competition that sku won before....so obviously if a quality hip-hop dj enters, they will be recognized.
it is hard to judge a rave-y, electro DJ against a hip-hop dj who is technically better at mixing and scratching, but basically it all comes down to whoever gets the best crowd response.

Who decides who the 5 finalists are to compete at the actual spinoff at the Skybox?
