I wanted everyone to know that all the energy that the original minds put together (NRG,Mike Boogie, Reach,Scoe,Joe Good, Brother of Moses,Delinda Pushtonequa,Mr. Flavorpak,etc...)has indeed manifested into a once a week class for youth ages 9-14. We are now in our second session with plans to add beatmaking & turntablism/dj'ing in the fall.... we'll be contacting you beatmakers & dj's when the time comes... Classes are currently held at the CREATIVE MIND COMMUNITY ART CENTER 3109 TROOST. Currently we are teaching Hip Hop Foundaton Movement 10-11am Mondays until August. Emceeing 101, Photography Basics 101 & Community Murals 101 from 4-5pm at the center. We are working with youth from St. Vincent's one block away and hope to work with more youth as the program develops into a mobile school. We were recently contacted by Catholic charities in Wyandotte County who works with Refugees from the Sudan and Migrant workers children who are very intersted in Hip Hop and Art. Word! A big thanks to all the groups that performed last Saturday July 15th despite the sweltering 100 degree like heat!!! We raised some funds for the Academy and had lots of positive vibes in the Theatre as UKUEPTO, KID INFINTY, PRO-REV, ANTI CREW, USED FUTURE, Z-SONIC, RELIC, INFINTE & JD FLOW & DJ MYTHIC held down the tables all damn day no less!!! Big ups to Aaron Osbourne for the awesome soundsytem donation and for holding it down all dang day as well! Mad respect and positive vibes out to all those who performed and came out to support!!!
