Jailed Bay Area rapper Mac Minister is set to release a new album titled The Minister of Defense via SMC Recordings/Fontana this fall.
Minister (Born Andre Dow) is currently incarcerated in Las Vegas and is waiting to be tried for his connection in the May 2005 murders of Kansas City rapper Fat Tone (born Anthony Watkins) and his friend Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins.
Fat Tone and Akins were last seen leaving a Las Vegas hotel with Dow and were later found shot dead at a construction site.
Authorities believe Fat Tone's death could have been in retaliation for the killing of Bay Area rapper Mac Dre. Dre was shot and killed in a 2004 drive by shooting, on Kansas City's S. 71 highway. Fat Tone was considered a person of interest in the murder but never a suspect.
On The Minister of Defense, Dow tells his side of the story and details what led up to the incidents in question. The album features appearances from Snoop Dogg, Mac Dre, Bad Azz, Too $hort and B-Legit, while production is supplied by LT Hutton & Mannie Fresh.
"After my first meeting with Mac I was inspired. He has the charisma and the inspiration from above to take himself to the top and overcome any situation," said SMC Recordings CEO, Ralph Tashijan, via a statement. "Mac Minister is a powerful man, a strong guy and most importantly a gentleman."
The Minister of Defense is slated to hit stores in September.
