Bronx Walk of Fame 2005 Hip Hop Pioneer Inductee Kurtis Blow
New York, New York June 13, 2005 -
Hush Tours, the original hip-hop cultural reality sightseeing tour in New York City is proud to announce Hip Hop Pioneer Kurtis Blow’s Induction in the Bronx Walk of Fame.
The last three years have been exceptional for our partnership with the Bronx Borough President’s Office. Our commitment to giving the pioneers the Honor it warrants and integrate the history of hip hop with the Bronx Walk Of Fame during Bronx Week is unparalleled.
In 1979, at the age of twenty, Kurtis Blow became the first Rapper to be signed by a major label. Mercury released “Christmas Rappin†and it sold over 400,000 copies and became an annual classic. Its follow-up “The Breaks†helped ignite a still-spreading international “Rap Attackâ€. He released 10 Albums over 11 years.
As “The Breaks†rap music’s first Gold Record celebrates its 25th Anniversary and the film “Krush Grove†celebrates its 20th Anniversary timing could not be better during Black Music Month.
Join us June 26th at 11AM for the award ceromony and unveiling of Kurtis Blow’s street sign @ 851 Grand Concourse Bronx Supreme Court Building (161st Street & The Grand Concourse) followed by the Bronx Parade on Pelham Parkway
